Theatre: Throop Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church Director: Warren Vanders, Debra DeLiso Character: Henry Thoreau (Leading)
Henry Thoreau is a reminder that it's our everyday responsibility to preserve our freedom and liberty. Well before his time, Thoreau was warning us of government, society, and business encroaching on our liberties that we’re seeing today. And that was back in the late 1800s.
What an honor and a challenge to be asked to play this remarkable man and be performance ready in two weeks. With scripts in hand, Warren Vanders guided the cast which included all of the talented DeLiso family to a successful and thoroughly enjoyed show over two nights only.
While raising money for the Church I'd like to think that more importantly we raised the awareness of Thoreau's life and philosophy in a dramatic and compelling story that seems so timely and relevant as we continue to war across the globe.
Play Bio: Matt Valenti is thrilled to be working on such a timely and relevant piece of drama spearheaded by the talents of Warren Vanders and Debra DeLiso. Thoreau is a reminder to us all that our freedom and liberties come at a price, and that that price is our commitment to preserving them. |
