Check out my latest show at www.WhatsThisShowCalled.com It's pure improv, pure wacky and pure fun.
One day during improv class a few of us decided it was time to take our improv to the public. Now we have 10 shows under our belt and a regular shooting schedule.
What is pure improv? I'm glad you asked. It means we have no script, no lines and nothing is planned. We go into each show armed with a theme and our brains. OK, sometimes not even our brains. The camera's start rolling and half and hour later they stop. We can't call cut, we can't take a break, and we can't change anything once it's recorded. Sometimes we get stuck and sometimes, just sometimes, I think we're quite good. Judge for yourself.
All the shows are taped in a public access studio. It's a standard three camera setup and we're assigned three camera operators and a director. It's free, we simply provide blank tapes. So sometimes we get what we pay for with beginners working the show, so keep that in mind. |
